Mathematics

Welcome to Mathematics at Falmouth School, where we are committed to equipping our students with a fundamental skill essential for life – the mastery of mathematics. As a department, our primary goal is to ensure that when students leave Falmouth School, they are not only academically proficient but numerically literate, ready to tackle the diverse mathematical challenges life may present.

Whether our students are headed to university, pursuing careers in accounting and finance, engaging in everyday tasks like budgeting for home DIY projects, or navigating the complexities of tax and national insurance when self-employed, we want them to feel confident and capable in applying mathematical principles to real-world situations.

In our classrooms, we foster a culture of perseverance and creativity. We challenge our students to approach mathematical problems from various angles, encouraging them to think critically and explore different solutions. Mathematics encompasses a broad spectrum of areas, and we motivate our students to continually revisit and reinforce their understanding of various topics covered in our curriculum.

The journey of solving mathematical problems is not just about arriving at a solution; it's about the immense satisfaction and reward that come with overcoming challenges. We aim to instill in our students a sense of accomplishment when they grasp a concept or solve a problem correctly, fostering confidence that extends to facing new and unfamiliar challenges.

At the Falmouth School Maths Team, we believe in empowering our students not only with mathematical knowledge but also with the ability to apply that knowledge with confidence and creativity. Join us on this mathematical journey, where success is not just a destination but a continuous exploration and celebration of learning.
