Lateness = Lost Learning = Minutes Amount to Days
Attendance at Falmouth School is overseen by Mr Mitchell. We acknowledge the positive impact of regular and punctual attendance on student learning, progress, and achievement. Excellent attendance is crucial for our students' success, preparing them for their future adult lives. The responsibility to achieve high attendance and punctuality lies with the entire school community—parents, staff, students, and governors.
Monitoring and Review
We are committed to regularly monitoring and reviewing the attendance of all our students to ensure the highest levels of attendance and punctuality.
Punctuality Matters
Students are expected to arrive before 8:35 am. Registration begins at 8:35 am, and the morning register closes at 9:00 am. Students arriving after 8:35 am must report to the main school reception to sign in. Unauthorised late arrivals after registration will be recorded as an unauthorised absence. If a student needs to leave early, they should provide a note to their form tutor and sign out at the main reception.
Concerns about Punctuality
The school will contact parents if concerns about punctuality arise. Research shows a clear link between poor attendance and lower academic achievements.
Minimum Attendance Target
96% attendance is the minimum target at Falmouth School. Students with attendance below this are at risk of underachievement.
Reporting Absences
For all absences, please use the school absence line at 01326 372386 (press 1 for Attendance) or report the absence using Class Charts. Include the student’s full name, year group, and the reason for absence. Please communicate before 8:35 am if possible.
