Making the most out of every day
Attendance at Falmouth School is overseen by Mr Mitchell. Excellent attendance is crucial for our students' success, preparing them for their future adult lives. The responsibility to achieve high attendance and punctuality lies with the entire school community—parents, staff, students, and governors.
Monitoring and Review
We are committed to regularly monitoring and reviewing the attendance of all our students to ensure the highest levels of attendance and punctuality.
Punctuality Matters
Registration begins at 8:30am and students are expected to arrive in good time before this. Unauthorised late arrivals after registration will be recorded as an unauthorised absence. If a student needs to leave early, this must be confirmed by parents in advance.
Concerns about Punctuality
The school will contact parents if concerns about punctuality arise. Research shows a clear link between poor attendance and lower academic achievements.
Minimum Attendance Target
96% attendance is the minimum target at Falmouth School. Students with attendance below this are at risk of underachievement.
Reporting Absences
For all absences, please use the school absence line at 01326 372386 (press 1 for Attendance) or report the absence using the My Child At School (MCAS) app. Include the student’s full name, year group, and the reason for absence. Please communicate before 8:30am if possible.
Exceptional Leave
The Department for Education no longer allows headteachers to grant any leave of absence during term time unless there are exceptional circumstances. If you consider that your request for absence is exceptional please complete an Exceptional Leave Request Form.
