Update - 5.6.25

We’re really excited to have your child joining us in Year 7 this September. We know that parents often have questions about school meals, so we’ve worked with our catering partners, Chartwells, to put together a handy flyer with answers to the most common ones.

You’ll find it below – we hope it helps! If there’s anything else you’d like to know, just get in touch.

Update - 2.6.25

Dear Parents and Carers,

We’re delighted that your child will be joining us at Falmouth School in September, and we hope they’re looking forward to their transition days with us on Thursday 26th and Friday 27th June, as well as our evening welcome event on Tuesday 1st July. More details on these will be shared shortly.

Mr Stringer, who leads our transition work, has really enjoyed visiting our new students and meeting their Year 6 teachers. It’s been a pleasure to start getting to know them and hear more about the strengths and interests they’ll be bringing to our school community.

The welcome evening on 1st July will be a valuable opportunity for families to meet their child’s new tutor, speak with members of the team, and ask any questions you may have ahead of the new school year. There will also be stalls to ask questions regarding our SEND provision and from Castle Sports, our uniform suppliers. We hope you’ll be able to join us.

As we look ahead to the new academic year, we’re also excited to share that students at Key Stage 3 have the opportunity to study either French or Spanish as part of their curriculum. While we can’t guarantee that every preference can be met, we do invite families to let us know which language they would prefer their child to study, and we will do our best to accommodate these choices.

You can submit your preference by completing the short Google Form linked here.

If you have any questions about the transition process or the language options available, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with Mr Stringer at dstringer@falmouthschool.net.

We’re very much looking forward to welcoming your child and your family to Falmouth School.

 Falmouth School - Update 16.5.25

Dear Parents and Carers,

I am absolutely delighted to share with you the outcome of our recent Ofsted inspection which took place on 23rd and 24th April 2025.

I am incredibly proud to announce that Falmouth School has been judged Good in all areas. This marks a significant and well-earned step forward from our previous rating of Requires Improvement. A milestone that reflects the dedication, resilience and collective effort of our entire school community.

The inspection team recognised that Falmouth School is aspirational for its pupils, with high expectations and an ambitious, carefully sequenced curriculum. They found that pupils take pride in their work and achievements and achieve well, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) and those who are disadvantaged. The report highlights how pupils behave well and that lessons are focused and purposeful.

Inspectors also praised the rich and varied opportunities available to students, noting that pupils embrace the opportunities to build on their interests and talents and contribute positively and diligently to both school life and the wider community. I am particularly pleased that they recognised the friendly atmosphere and empathy at Falmouth as well as our efforts to place the school at the centre of the community.

This achievement would not have been possible without your continued support and partnership. Whether through engaging with school initiatives, working closely with us to support your child’s learning or being an active part of our school community, your role in our improvement journey has been invaluable and I thank you sincerely. While the school has experienced a number of changes in leadership over recent years, I am pleased to say that in the last nine months, there has been a strong and growing sense of stability. This period has allowed us to focus, build momentum and lay solid foundations for the future; foundations on which we will continue to grow with confidence and purpose.

I do want to take a moment to celebrate the incredible staff and leadership team at Falmouth School. Their relentless drive, belief in our students and shared commitment to high standards have transformed our school. I am proud every day to work alongside such dedicated professionals. Equally, our students shone throughout the inspection: They spoke with pride, confidence and eloquence in the many meetings inspectors held with them. They were, without question, a true credit to the school and to you as families.

I have attached a copy of the full Ofsted report with this letter for your reference. The report will also be published on the Ofsted website in the coming days.

While we celebrate this moment, we are also looking ahead. The report rightly recognises that there is still more work to do; particularly in continuing to ensure consistent excellence in curriculum delivery and expanding our sixth form offer. We are excited for this next chapter and remain firmly committed to building on our success to become an outstanding school in every sense.

Thank you once again for your unwavering support. We look forward to continuing this journey with you and your child/ren.

Warmest Regards,

Mrs Joanne Guest

Falmouth School - Update 6.5.25

As your child prepares to join us at Falmouth School, we know that the transition to secondary education can bring a range of questions—particularly around how we support students with additional needs.

We would like to introduce you to Mrs Penrose, our Assistant Headteacher for Inclusion and SENDCo, and her dedicated team. They are passionate about supporting young people and are already looking forward to meeting our new Year 7 cohort.

Throughout the transition period, Mrs Penrose and her team will be:

  • Visiting primary schools to speak with staff and gather key information to ensure a smooth and positive start;
  • Planning tailored support where it is needed;
  • Available to meet with parents and carers at our welcome events to discuss individual needs and how we can work together to support your child throughout their journey with us.

To learn more about our SEND provision at Falmouth School, please visit the link here: https://www.falmouthschool.net/web/send/678132. If you have any queries regarding our SEND provision, please contact Mrs. Penrose at rpenrose@falmouthschool.net.
