ICT

Welcome to the Falmouth School ICT Department, where we empower students with the essential skills and knowledge needed to thrive in today's ICT-rich world. In an era where technology is integral to daily life, we recognize the importance of fostering digital literacy and responsibility among our students.

Our curriculum is designed to equip students with core skills vital for success in the digital age. From spreadsheets, databases, desktop publishing, and internet browsing to email, graphic design, web development, and word processing, we cover a comprehensive range of applications. Our goal is to create digitally literate students, preparing them for future careers by providing a solid foundation in these fundamental ICT skills.

Beyond the technical aspects, we place a strong emphasis on responsible ICT use. In an era dominated by social networking sites, we guide our students in understanding the implications and dangers of sharing personal information online. E-safety is a cornerstone of our curriculum, and we empower students with the knowledge and tools to safeguard themselves in the digital realm.

At Key Stage 3, students delve into the core building blocks of computer use, covering e-safety, office applications, and the basics of programming. As they progress to Key Stage 4, our students embark on a comprehensive journey by following the Digital Information Technology BTEC. This course delves into developing software that interacts with humans, processing large data sets, and understanding the crucial role of ICT in the professional world.

At the Falmouth School we empower students to navigate the digital landscape responsibly, preparing them for a future where ICT proficiency is not only a skill but a foundation for success in various career paths.
