A-Levels
Students will select three or four A-Levels to study Post-16. Generally, students require 5 GCSEs at Grade 5 above, in addition to a Grade 6 in the chosen subject if relevant. A-Levels can also be studied alongside a single Vocational option, at Level 3.
Care
Students interested in a career in care, can study a vocational course within Early Years Childcare
or Health and Social Care. Students may enter this course at Level 2 or 3.
Creative
Students interested in the creative subjects, can choose to study Art & Design, Performing Arts and Music Vocational courses. Students will enter at either Level 2 or 3 according to their GCSE results.
Sport
Students who wish to focus their energy on sport, can study this at Falmouth Sixth Form. Courses will be offered at Level 3 at Falmouth Sixth Form, they can either study a full sport programme or use it as one of their three options.
Tourism
Students interested in pursuing a career in Tourism, can complete a course in Hospitality & Catering. Both courses can be entered at Level 2 or 3, depending on GCSE results achieved.
Engineering
Cornwall needs engineers. Falmouth Sixth Form offers courses for Engineering either at level 2 or 3. These are all full time courses.
At Falmouth Sixth Form, there are two levels of entry.
Level 2
Level 2 courses are designed for students who did not quite manage to secure 5 GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English and Maths.
Full time Level 2 courses are offered at Falmouth Sixth Form.
Students can study these qualifications for 1 or 3 years.
Students studying over 1 year will work to achieve the Level 2 qualification by accessing a vocational course, while retaking GCSE Maths and/or English, at the same time.
Students studying over 3 years will complete the Level 2 course in addition to GCSE retakes. Once complete, they can progress onto the Level 3 full course.
Level 3
Level 3 courses are for students who achieved 5 GCSEs at Grade 5 or above, including Maths and English.
If students wish to complete vocational qualifications, they can take their pick of the courses they wish to study. This could include one vocational course or a selection of A-Levels.
Some courses will require students to have achieved an additional GCSE Grade to support specific subjects. Please see the information provided throughout the prospectus, where this is the case.
